Meet the Founder

Courtney Hughes is a communications strategist, brand executive, and storyteller with more than fifteen years of experience at the intersection of culture, media, and high-visibility moments. She founded Outlier & Company to bring enterprise-level communications expertise to the athletes, executives, and public figures who need it most — and who deserve a partner as invested in their legacy as they are.

Courtney's career began in TV and radio, where she developed the on-camera instincts and live media fluency that still define her approach today. Since 2012, she has built an extensive career at Dell Technologies — spending nine years in Global Executive Communications, where she worked directly with senior leaders on media training and speaker coaching, preparing them for high-stakes interviews, keynote stages, press moments, and global audiences. She has hosted and moderated major conversations with industry leaders, creators, and notable talent since 2008.

Following her tenure in communications, Courtney moved into a senior leadership role focused on global brand storytelling, executive visibility, major brand moments, and building narratives that resonate far beyond traditional corporate audiences.

Her career has been built at the intersection of brand, culture, and storytelling, and she brings every layer of that experience to the clients she serves through Outlier & Company.

What that means for you

The media training and speaker coaching Courtney offers at Outlier & Company isn't theoretical — it's the same work she performed at the Fortune 500 level, refined over nearly a decade with executives whose visibility and reputation were on the line every time they stepped in front of a camera or took a stage.
